Japanese Government Runs Away from People of Fukushima

A very sad example of how the people in Fukushima have been abandoned by the Japanese government. It’s becoming obvious the ‘leaders’ were, and still are, completely over their head. One of affects of non-experts being appointed to positions requiring expertise. A common practice in Japan.

Typhoon #15 (Roke) Whips Tokyo

Posted by tokyodv in Culture, Event

Typhoon # 15 (Roke) batters Tokyo.

All trains were stopped last Wednesday afternoon (September 25th) at 3:30pm, JST. This left people stuck in Tokyo battling wind, rain, and falling trees. A large tree fell on a taxi in Dogenzaka (Shibuya).

In this short clip we hear the rain smacking the windows and see police struggling to stand up.

A Day at Sumo

Posted by tokyodv in Culture, Event, Report

A good friend scored me seats three rows from the Dohyo at the January Sumo Tournament in Tokyo. A great view looking up at the wrestlers. Aside from my aching knees, it was a perfect day. This is a video nugget from the event.

This match between the rising star Baruto and veteran Asashoryu turned out to be their last; Asashoryu retired after this tournament because of a report he started a fight at a club in Tokyo..

Posted by tokyodv in Culture, Event, Fashion, Girls

A good friend of mine was attending Kimono lessons at the Hakubi Kimono School in Tokyo. I went to a demonstration at the school; Here we see two teachers dressing a woman as royalty would be dressed. It’s a kimono with twelve layers. I’ve dubbed it ‘Twelve Layers O’ Fun’..

The Digiko Dunlop Girls Do Puffy

Posted by tokyodv in Cars, Culture, Event, Fashion, Funny, Girls, Strange

The Digiko Dunlop Girls perform, what I believe to be a popular Puffy song at the time; Cant remember the title.

There were many girls performing at the Tokyo Motor Show that day, but I was most impressed with this group. They captured the pure, innocent silliness often associated with radial tires. :D.

Three Asimo Invasion!

Posted by tokyodv in Culture, Robots, Strange, Technology

Some close-ups of Asimo’s ankle joints, tinted face shield, and knees.

The lighting was strange/futuristic and the fluid/freaky motions of Asimo made this an intriguing clip; still one of my personal favorites. Shot at one of the Robodex Expos in Yokohama, Japan.
