Japan Negligence: ‘Fukushima = 29.6 Hiroshima Nuclear Bombs’
A professor from Tokyo University (number 1 in the country) gives his emotional testimony at the Diet on July 27th.
He’s ‘shaking with anger’ at TEPCO and the government; they have yet to release an official estimate of total radiation from the Fukushima Dai-ichi power plant explosions and subsequent meltdowns. And I’m sure they won’t; sweep it under the rug. Or as they say in Japan; if it stinks, put a lid on it.
Professor Kodama’s Radioisotope Center has determined:
- Based on thermal output, Fukushima is 29.6 times the amount released by the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima.
- Based on uranium equivalent, Fukushima is 20 Hiroshima bombs.
- The radiation from a nuclear bomb will decrease by one-thousandth
- The radiation from a nuclear power plant will only decrease by one-tenth.
And this problem isn’t just going away. Every week, they ‘discover’ more food, water, and waste irradiated covering more area. They’ve only just now discovered this contamination because they’ve only just now started checking.. 4 months later.

Japanese Government Runs Away from People of Fukushima
A very sad example of how the people in Fukushima have been abandoned by the Japanese government. It’s becoming obvious the ‘leaders’ were, and still are, completely over their head. One of affects of non-experts being appointed to positions requiring expertise. A common practice in Japan.

Help Victims of Japan’s Earthquake / Tsunami / Nuclear Catastrophe
My buddy, Kjeld, over at Japanese Streets immediately traveled to the tsunami hit areas to work with local government officials and relay their needs. He partnered up with Demira NGO, photographed the destruction, and interviewed city mayors. Kjeld captured the video and photos. I edited and added the background sounds.
I also highly recommend Mercy Corp. They’re from my home state and had a helicopter distributing food and needed supplies days after the tsunami. The people of that area have been hit hard and many will never be able to return. It’s not too late to help.

KOMADORI Bros: Brother Funkers!
I was so impressed with a KOMADORI Bros. video clip on NHKs Digital Stadium, I just had to track them down.
At the time, they were International Academy of Media Arts and Sciences. We exchanged emails, drank beers, and shared DV stories. I asked if I could present their work to an international audience on TOKYODV. They were excited about the exposure, and I was honored to show their art.

The Digiko Dunlop Girls Do Puffy
The Digiko Dunlop Girls perform, what I believe to be a popular Puffy song at the time; Cant remember the title.
There were many girls performing at the Tokyo Motor Show that day, but I was most impressed with this group. They captured the pure, innocent silliness often associated with radial tires. :D.
