TDV Street Fashion: Fashion Fight!
Two girls play frisbee one afternoon, then end up fighting, wrestling, and shooting each other with squirt guns.. What can I say? This is Japan.
We had a lot of fun shooting this clip. I rented a Cube car, bought a six pack of beers, and brainstormed different shooting ideas. The video is still quite popular.. I’m not sure why.. Well, yeah. I know why.

TDV Street Fashion: Mana’s Blue Pants
Mana likes ‘grotesquely’ beautiful accessories. Here, we interview her after a smoke-break outside her clothing store in Harajuku. She’s wearing pointed shoes, baggy blue pants, and a simple brown t-shirt.
I was impressed with her sense of ’self’; it seems a lot of ‘fashionable’ people are playing roles - their outer shells don’t represent who they are.. With Mana, I felt her fashion was a mirror of her personality. It was a refreshing experience in a city based mainly on appearance..

TDV Street Fashion: Capoeira Kids
A short video of teenagers practicing Capoeira in Yoyogi park. According to Wikipedia, “Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art developed initially by African slaves in Brazil, starting in the colonial period. It is marked by deft, tricky movements often played on the ground or completely inverted. It also has a strong acrobatic component in some versions and is always played with music.”
The kids in this video are pretty good; the hand-stand dancing impressed me. Other members of the group are playing traditional Capoeira instruments; the berimbaus and pandeiro.
The clip is a few years old so the physical size is small and the encoding a bit shoddy, but it contains a nice dance sequence and captures the mood of the day - carefree culturalism.. I dubbed the clip ‘Japafrizilian Vibes’..
Paradise TV Strives for Stupidity, Sex (article)
The chaos continues: flapping newspapers flutter past (with one momentarily clinging to her forehead); snow begins falling; and more clothing vanishes. In the end, she is covered in a dusting of white flakes and a grin…
TDV Street Fashion: Punks in Suits
A couple punks in suits hanging out in Harajuku. They were outside Gap, on the corner. It didn’t look like they were doing much besides window shopping and people watching.. From the snazzy duds they were wearing, it appeared they were out to be watched as well. For one, it was his first time in a suit.. He looked dapper and the material impressive.. Unfortunately, we didn’t catch the brand..
In the video, we learn where they like to shop and what they plan on buying for the coming summer..

KOMADORI Bros. T-Shirt: Grab One Today!
The KOMADORI Bros. came out with a custom designed t-shirt a few years ago. I asked if I could sell it on TokyoDV. They obliged, so I had another excuse to ask Toku-chan to be my t-shirt model; she fills out shirts perfectly, making them irresistible.. She was one of the models for the TokyoDV clothing line video, Fashion Fight!
I’m not sure if the concept of this short video is apparent, but it came out basically how I wanted.. Woman looks seductively into camera searching for something. Woman gets surprised, grabs what is most precious to her; her t-shirt..
I still have a few KOMADORI shirts lying around, so you can order them here. The quality is great and design original..

Hanami Season: Blossom Viewing at Kinuta
I went to Kinuta Park for Hanami this weekend. Hanami means ‘cherry blossom viewing’.. It was better than I expected; I despise crowded places, but Kinuta has enough space to allow everyone enough room. The trees were huge and the weather perfect.
Kinuta Park has an interesting history; I believe it was a Japanese military base first, then a US base, then a golf course, and now a park. Although, I can’t yet find a reference to back up my claim. It’s unique because it’s a Japanese park that actually has nice grass.. I suppose dirt parks are easier to maintain..
The video is nothing special, but it gives you a feel for Hanami Season; blue tarps, family activities, alcohol, and pink blossoms.. Oh, and random announcements of lost children.
Shibuya Crosswalkers
This clip was made awhile ago, when ecstasy and raving in the park were the only and best things going on in town. I think that particular scene has waned a bit, but there are still rave/techno parties held in clubs every weekend.. I think ‘house’ is where it’s at now.
I took the sounds of a night rave in Yoyogi Park and combined it with sped-up video of Shibuya’s main crosswalk. This crosswalk provides some of the best eye-candy Tokyo has to offer, with it’s huge video screens, colorful lights, and masses of converging ‘crosswalkers’. It’s been featured in a lot movies and also can be seen in FOMA Debut and Vodafone Barcoding. FG has a thread with some old photos of Shibuya Crossing in the 40s or 50s.
The encoding quality is so-so, but the clip is short so you can move along quickly.. It’s called ‘Shibuya Crosswalkers: My Hobby is Shopping’..
TokyoDV Models: Anjela
Anjela came over one Autumn day to make a little video collage. The blue sky, vivid sun, and Fall colors added to her striking beauty; Her dark eyes seem to go right in and through you.. I tried capturing this on tape.
“My name is Anjela and I’m from Sakhalin, Russia. I am of Korean blood, but I was born and raised in Russia. I like reading books (especially Russian love stories) travelling, dancing, kids, watching movies, and making friends from around the world. My dream is to become a model. I love having my picture taken and feel very comfortable in front of the camera..â€
I was very comfortable with her in front of the camera..
TDV Reports: ParadiseTV Bathing News
Not Safe For Work! Here we see Kozue Ikeda reporting the news while undressing and getting into a bathtub. There’s already a woman in the tub giving us a ‘rubber ducky cam’ view of laminated newspapers and other underwater goodies.
The clip is a tad long, but I was impressed with Ms. Ikeda’s elegant movements and didn’t want to edit any of her gracefulness.. Keep in mind this was shot outside, on the roof of the building, when it was about 8 degress Celcius..
